About The Procedure
Our Nd: Yag laser uses a wavelength of 1064 nanometers to bypass the skin and directly target each hair follicle. By eradicating the hemoglobin of the follicles, their blood supply diminishes. Without nourishment, they gradually wither and die off over the course of 2-3 weeks after treatment. This allows for a minimum of only 13% overlap, reducing side effects while increasing hair removal. Since your hair follicles go through a life cycle—composed of early growth, active growth, regression, and resting—treatments need to be spaced 6-8 weeks apart to target them during the active growth phase. Engorged blood flow is at its peak during this time, ensuring a higher success rate. At least six sessions will be required—the length and cost of which depends upon the areas in need of hair removal.
Some patients may experience mild discomfort during treatment. This will be controlled by cooling of the skin, with our state of the art zimmer chiller, slowing down the scanner or reducing the fluence. Our goal is always a very effective and comfortable treatment. There's occasionally a swollen redness around the follicles immediately afterward, but it will disappear within the hour. Any instances of water blisters, skin pigmentation change, or scarring happens only in the rarest of circumstances.
After a full course of sessions, the treated areas will look naturally hairless, with zero residual evidence of the procedure occurring. There may be a few fine, light hairs leftover on certain regions, as the Nd: Yag laser experiences increased difficulty destroying hair follicles of fairer colored hair. Results should retain full potency for at least 12 months after treatment, but oftentimes last much longer. The hair follicle treated are dead forever. Bur the body can make new follicles. So touchup treatments may be needed in the future.
