Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal

Maintaining smooth, hairless skin is a real chore. Trimming, shaving, waxing; all impermanent solutions that leech time and money from your day to day life. But the fight can be won with laser hair removal at Aesthetics. Our laser specialist uses state of the art equipment to halt hair growth at the source. Opting for our services ensures a long-lasting and safe solution to remove unwanted hair for a sexier, more confident you.

Case in point, many of our contemporaries use melanin targeting lasers that damage the skin while missing the follicles. Thankfully, our Nd: Yag laser avoids this dilemma entirely. With a wavelength of 1064 nanometers, the Nd: Yag laser penetrates and destroys follicles located by a scanning system. No skin reactions, no anesthetics, and it’s effective for all skin tones. You’ll need to commit to a minimum of six sessions—spread 6 to 8 weeks apart—to complete your treatment, although more may be required for best results. To discover the best plan of treatment for you, call (320) 347-1515 today to book a free consultation with our laser specialist Tayla.

Am I A Candidate?

Candidates for laser hair removal commonly include:

  • Women who tire of to constantly checking for excess facial hair growth.
  • Women who want to look great at the beach, or for their partner, without the periodic hassle of getting waxed.
  • Women who are too burnt out from the demands of daily life— raising a family, or working a busy career—to keep up with hair removal.
  • Men who want to rid themselves of back, neck, and body hair, but don’t want to deal with razor burns from shaving.

About The Procedure

Our Nd: Yag laser uses a wavelength of 1064 nanometers to bypass the skin and directly target each hair follicle. By eradicating the hemoglobin of the follicles, their blood supply diminishes. Without nourishment, they gradually wither and die off over the course of 2-3 weeks after treatment. Aesthetics also shuns inaccurate, free hand laser therapy used by other practices in favor of a computer scanner. This allows for accurate and complete coverage whilst reducing side effects and increasing hair removal.Since your hair follicles go through a life cycle—composed of early growth, active growth, regression, and resting—treatments need to be spaced 6-8 weeks apart to target the follicles during the active growth phase. Engorged blood flow is at its peak during this time, ensuring a higher success rate. At least six sessions will be required—the length and cost of which depends upon the areas in need of hair removal.

Side Effects

Some patients may experience mild discomfort during treatment. This will be controlled by cooling of the skin, with our state of the art zimmer chiller, slowing down the scanner, or reducing the fluence. Our goal is always a very effective and comfortable treatment. There’s occasionally a swollen redness around the follicles immediately afterward, but it will disappear within the hour. Any instances of water blisters, skin pigmentation change, or scarring happens only in the rarest of circumstances.

After a full course of sessions, the treated areas will look natural hairless, with zero residual evidence of the procedure occurring. There may be a few fine, light hairs leftover on certain regions, as the Nd: Yag laser experiences increased difficulty destroying hair follicles of fairer colored hair. The treated hair follicles are dead forever. However, the body can make new follicles. So “touchup” treatments may be needed in the future.
